Walmart Scholarship 2023 Now Open

Walmart scholarship programs assist individuals who are deserving of pursuing degree courses but lack the financial means.

Walmart provides numerous scholarship programs for the community, employees, and their dependents.

The specific scholarships offered by Walmart include the following:

Walmart Scholarship

 

Walmart Hispanic Scholarship Fund

This program is available for high school seniors of Hispanic heritage residing in specific geographic regions in the U.S.

The scholarship is awarded to students enrolling in college as full-time freshman students.

The scholarship amount is $2,500.

The application for the Walmart scholarship is available in mid-November and is due in January.

The duration of the scholarship is one year, and it is non-renewable.

Eligibility requirements for this scholarship include:

Being of Hispanic heritage.

Being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Planning to attend college full-time as a graduating high school senior.

Enrolling in a degree program at an accredited 4-year college or university.

Participating in a one-year retention program during the freshman year.

Applying for federal financial aid by completing FAFSA.

Being a permanent resident of specific cities, including

Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle,  Washington, D.C

The  Dependent Scholarship,

Administered through the Walmart Foundation.

The scholarship offered $13,000 in total, disbursed over four years.

Eligible applicants were dependents of Walmart and Sam’s Club associates.

Applicants were required to have;

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5,
  • A minimum ACT score of 22
  • SAT score of 1030 (combined Math & Critical Reading),
  • Demonstrate financial need.

The scholarship funds were to be used for studies at a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution (excluding military academies).

Eligibility requirements included;

Being a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident,

Dependent of an actively employed associate with Walmart for at least six consecutive months (with some restricted dates),

Being a high school or homeschool senior with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5,

Planning to enroll as a freshman in a two-year or four-year college or university accredited by the U.S.

Department of Education (excluding military academies).

Financial need had to be demonstrated with required documents, and students with other funds covering tuition, books, fees, and on-campus room and board were ineligible.

Starting from 2012, these scholarships were renewable.

The scholarship application deadline varied each year, with the online application usually opening in early January.

NB This program was discontinued in 2021.

The Achievers Scholarship

Offered in partnership with the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU).

The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate Hispanic students majoring in:

  • Business Administration,
  • General Management,
  • Retail Management,
  • Food Merchandising,
  • Related majors at a 2 or 4-year HACU member college or university on the mainland U.S.

The scholarship award value is $1,000.

The deadline for the Walmart Achievers Scholarship is in May each year.

The duration of the scholarship is one year, and it is non-renewable.

Eligibility requirements include:

Being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, General Management, Retail Management, Food Merchandising, or related fields.

Demonstrating financial need and eligibility for Federal Financial Aid, meeting specific criteria for the applied scholarships.

Attending a HACU-member college or university on the mainland U.S.

Having an interest in pursuing a career in the retail industry and working while attending school.

Students must apply for the scholarship through HACU.

Proof of financial need and academic transcripts are required.
