The Peter F Vallone Academic Scholarship (formerly known as the New York City Council Merit Scholarship) acknowledges the academic achievements of high school graduates from New York City.
These students may receive $700 annually ($350 per semester).
The New York City Council determines the funding, and the scholarship amount can vary from year to year based on allocations.
Once a college exhausts its allocation, no further recipients can receive the award.
