The OSAC Scholarship, administered by the Oregon Student Access Commission (OSAC)
Is a program that offers various scholarships and grants to support students in Oregon pursuing higher education.
The OSAC Scholarship is open to graduating high school students, GED® or home-schooled graduates, as well as first-time college freshmen, undergraduates, and graduate students.
Eligible For OSAC Scholarships;
- OSAC scholarships are only applicable to U.S. institutions participating in Title IV federal student aid programs.
- U.S. military academies are not eligible for OSAC scholarships.
- U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen residing in the United States with the intention of becoming a permanent resident.
- Residency in Oregon is required for OSAC scholarships.
- Independent students or parents of dependent students must have continuously resided in Oregon for 12 months.
- Enrollment in an Oregon high school or postsecondary institution for an academic year within any 12-month period establishes residency.
- Independent students or parents of dependent students serving in the US Armed Forces must have Oregon listed as their “home of record.”
- Eligibility extends to enrolled members of federally recognized Native American tribes of Oregon or tribes that historically included parts of Oregon.
- OSAC scholarships are open to graduating high school students, GED® or home-schooled graduates, as well as first-time college freshmen, undergraduates, and graduate students.
- Applicants must not owe a refund on an educational grant or be in default on any education loans.
Application Timeline & Guidelines;
- October: Submit your FAFSA or ORSAA as soon as possible after October 1 to be considered for scholarships based on financial need.
- November – February: Begin your OSAC scholarship application and submit it between November and March 6.
- First-time applicants: Create an OSAC account and start the OSAC Scholarship Application.
- Returning applicants: Refresh and update your application from the previous year.
- High school juniors can start a “test application” but cannot submit until their graduation year.
- February 15*: Early Bird deadline. Complete applications, including transcripts, submitted by this date qualify for a chance to win one of several $1,000 Early Bird scholarship awards through a drawing.
- March 6*: Final deadline. All materials must be submitted to OSAC by this date.
Steps Post Application & Award;
- April – August: Monitor your application status and scholarship awards through the OSAC Student Portal.
- Steps to take if you receive a scholarship:
- Log in to your OSAC account to accept or decline the award.
- Write a thank you letter to the scholarship donor on your profile page or send it to OSAC.
- Update your college and major information in Section 9 of the application.
- Keep your contact details up to date in Sections 1 and 3 of the application.
- Maintain eligibility for your award by meeting the following criteria:
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as per your school’s policies for students receiving federal Title IV aid.
- Enroll as a full-time student (usually 12 credits) unless specified otherwise by your award.
- Use the scholarship at a U.S. institution eligible for Title IV federal student aid programs (U.S. military academies are excluded).
- Utilize the award solely for education-related expenses, including tuition/fees, room/board, books/supplies, transportation, and specified child care.
- Attend for the entire academic year; partial attendance may result in prorated award amounts.
- Contact OSAC for information on full scholarship funds if you are on track to graduate before spring term.
- Review and adhere to the specific requirements outlined in your profile award link or letter.
