Minuteman Scholarship is an initiative by the U.S. Army Cadet Command.
It offers Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) scholarships.
GRFD scholarship covers full tuition and fees or room and board.
The program aims to provide well-trained officers to the Reserve Components.

Program And Awards
4-year scholarship:
Awarded to incoming college freshmen attending a host ROTC program.
3-year scholarship:
Awarded to incoming college sophomores, covers the last 3 years of benefits if requirements are met.
2-year scholarship:
Awarded to incoming college juniors/ graduate students, covers the last 2 years of benefits if requirements are met.
Scholarship recipients receive a yearly book allowance of $1,200.
Recipients also receive a monthly stipend ranging from $300 to $500, based on their year in the ROTC program.
Minuteman recipients participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program, gaining experience with a National Guard unit’s monthly drills and a 14-day annual training.
Participants in the program are paid as a sergeant, earning around $6,400 per year.
Graduates and commissioned Minuteman Scholarship recipients are guaranteed placement in the Army National Guard.
High school seniors should initiate contact with the Professor of Military Science or Recruiting Operations Officer (ROO) at their college or university’s Army ROTC program to begin the process.
There are 275 host programs covering nearly 3,000 schools across the United States.
Minuteman Scholarship Qualification
Currently in the Army National Guard or eligible to enlist.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
Age requirement: Between 17-28 years old, cannot turn 31 by December 31st of the year of commissioning.
Must have a valid Chapter 2 MEPS physical for enlistment.
Ability to pass a Cadet Command Physical Fitness Assessment, required to sign a contract and receive scholarship benefits.
Must be in compliance with AR 600-9 body composition standards.
Need to provide an official acceptance letter from a university/college.
Academic qualifications: Minimum 2.5 GPA and SAT-850 or ACT-19 or GT-110.
Must pass an interview with the ROTC Professor of Military Science commander.
Enroll in ROTC program.
Willingness to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP).

Confirm that the school you plan to attend is a host or affiliated with an ROTC program.
The Texas Army National Guard will submit the nomination to the US Army Cadet Command Recruiting (USACC), Marketing and Incentives Division (RMID) point of contact.
HQ Cadet Command to forward the nominations to the ROTC brigade, and subsequently to the respective schools.
Once the verified Minuteman nomination letter is received;
- The ROTC Program will assemble the scholarship packet,
- Verify requirements,
- Send all necessary documents through their respective Brigades to USACC RMID for processing.
The applicant should be test/physically qualified as Qualified Not Enlisted (QNE) with the MEPS.
All Minuteman Scholarship Cadets must participate in the National Guard’s SMP.
All scholarship offers are subject to available funding.
