Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program aims at creating pathways for students pursuing engineering or computer science degrees.

Particularly those facing financial barriers and hailing from underrepresented or underserved communities.

This initiative, in 2023, will grant up to 200 renewable scholarships, valued at $10,000 each, for students undertaking full-time studies at any accredited U.S. educational institution of their preference.

Lockheed Martin has entrusted Scholarship America®, the leading organization specializing in designing and administering scholarships as well as other educational support initiatives for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals across the nation.

Eligibility &Application Requirements

  • Eligibility requirements for the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program:
    • Must be a U.S. citizen.
    • Must demonstrate financial need.
    • For high school seniors: GPA of 2.5 or above.
    • For undergraduate students (freshman, sophomore, or junior): GPA of 2.5 or above.
    • Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a 4-year degree program in the following majors:
      • Aerospace Engineering
      • Computer Engineering
      • Computer Science
      • Electrical Engineering
      • Electrical and Computer Engineering
      • Industrial Engineering
      • Mathematics
      • Mechanical Engineering
      • Physics
    • Must plan to attend a full-time program at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university.
    • Should have an interest in a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college (internship is optional and not guaranteed).
  • Required documents to be uploaded as part of the application:
    • Current and complete transcript displaying student name, school name, grades, and credit hours for each course and term.
    • If providing SAT or ACT test scores separately, a copy of the test score report(s).
    • Copy of the first two pages of the most recent IRS Form 1040 for the Financial Information section.
    • If the applicant’s family does not file taxes, a detailed document explaining the circumstances.
  • Lockheed Martin employees cannot provide recommendations for applicants.
  • All required documents must be submitted electronically for the application to be considered complete.

Recipients Selection Criteria For Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

    • Academic record.
    • Demonstrated leadership and involvement in school and community activities, including membership in relevant trade organizations or associations.
    • Work experience.
    • Statement outlining educational and career goals.
    • Unusual personal or family circumstances.
    • Online recommendation.
  • Financial need, as assessed by Scholarship America, is a requirement for receiving the scholarship.
  • Additional consideration is given to:
    • First-generation college students.
    • Individuals who self-identify as belonging to underrepresented groups in STEM careers:
      • Women.
      • Racial and ethnic minorities.
      • Individuals with disabilities (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act).
      • LGBTQIA+ individuals.
      • First-generation college students.
      • Active Duty U.S. military, including Reserves and National Guard.
      • U.S. military Veterans, including Reserves and National Guard.
      • Spouses of U.S. military Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or Veterans.
  • All applicants agree to accept the decision of Scholarship America as final.
