Believe it or not, we have scholarships for left-handed people, as strange as it may sound. 

When I first came across this claim, I thought it was just some scam or bad joke but a few searches confirmed to me that we have the now popular left handed scholarships. 

According to data, in the United States, 10% of the country’s population are lefties.

Challenges of being left handed

While roughly ten percent of people are left-handed, they struggle greatly in a society where most things are designed for right-handed people. 

Many of the desks in schools are designed for right-handed students, and left-handed ones may have to wait for their “special” desks, which hinders their academic progress.

Many novels are written in the left-to-right style used in Western cultures. 

Right-handers find it quite comfortable because left-handers would easily smear the ink. 

Other difficulties include figuring out how to use right-handed office supplies, computer equipment, and sporting goods.

Here are some popular left-handed scholarships

Andrew Macrina Scholarship Fund

The American Culinary Federation established the Andrew Macrina Scholarship Fund, which offers left-handed high school students scholarships.

To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.

You must also submit two recommendations, engage in voluntary work, be passionate about working as a chef, and register as an apprentice with the ACF.

One of the scholarships is for left-handed people.

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship

If you are enthusiastic about volunteering in your community, you can apply for this scholarship to receive $1,000. 

You must be a full-time senior in high school, demonstrate leadership qualities, enroll in a non-profit institution, have a minimum CGPA of 2.8, and be nominated by your guidance counselor or principal in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship

ESA Foundation Scholarship Program

 In 2007, the ESA Foundation Scholarship Program provided funding for full-time recognized undergraduate degree programs in subjects like computer video games to both left- and right-handed students. 30 $3,000 scholarships are awarded each year. 

Candidates must be either female or minority students who are citizens of the United States and exhibit creative technical skills; nonetheless, a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 is required for qualifying.

Frank J. Richter Scholarship Award

The American Association of Railroad Superintendents is the entity in charge of the left-hand award, and they provide $1,000 for their fortunate students. 

You can apply for the scholarship grant for lefties if you are a motivated left-handed individual with the following requirements: full-time enrollment at a reputable college in Canada or the United States; 2.75 cumulative GPA; a strong narrative essay; and two recommendations.

Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship

The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship was established in 1979 and are one of the left-handed awards.

Every year, it is worth more than $1,000 to $1,500. 

The award is only available to lefties who have completed at least their first year at Juniata and have excelled academically

You must submit a statement of account, references, proof of grades, and other materials with your application for this left-handed scholarship.

Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation established the Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship, which is intended for left-handed students. 

For creative lefties pursuing a bachelor’s degree in performing arts, such as theater, opera, music, or drama, it offers $3,000. 

Any candidate must be a citizen of the United States, have a GPA of at least 2.5, exhibit able leadership qualities, be accepted into a full-time college, etc.

One of the most lucrative prizes available to left-handed students is the James Beard Foundation National Scholarship

The creators award $20,000 to undergraduate students in the United States who are majoring in fields like agriculture, culinary arts, food science, or hospitality management. 

It’s helpful to know that one beneficiary is chosen from ten different places.

Additionally, the applicants chosen match the criteria for the scholarship, which emphasize leadership, career ambitions, and community involvement.

James River Church Left-Handed Scholarship

The prize’s creators collaborate with Evangel University to provide lefties with an annual $500 scholarship. 

You can apply for the JRC left-handed scholarship if your goal is to earn an associate’s degree in leadership. 

It is required to have artistic talent, which can be demonstrated by producing a portfolio of paintings, drawings, photographs, or graphic designs, or by writing a 500-word essay about being a leftie. 

The four semesters of the program are covered by the scholarship money.

John Kitt Memorial Scholarship

One of the many grants for students who are left-handed is the John Kitt Memorial Scholarship

It is managed by the American Association of Candy Technologists.

As a full-time student enrolled in a four-year program, you must be a freshman pursuing an introductory course in nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, etc. 

It is essential to demonstrate a keen interest in the confectionary sector.

Ken C. Hicks Scholarship Program

Foot Locker is the program’s official sponsor. Ken C. Hicks Scholarship. 

It provides more than 20 scholarships worth $20,000 to student-athletes pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a recognized U.S. university while still in high school. 

You are eligible to apply for the scholarship if you are a left-handed American citizen. 

Involvement in extracurricular activities is also crucial if you have a 3.0 GPA and a strong love for volunteer work.

Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship

Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship: In some cases, people mistake lefties for having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. 

The scholarship can give you $2,000 for pre-paid coaching sessions through the Edge Foundation if you have a neurodevelopmental condition.

 To qualify for the scholarship, you must be a legitimate citizen of the United States who is enrolling in a two- or four-year program. 

Additionally, you must present a medical certificate attesting to your health and the absence of disease or illness.

MRCA Foundation Left-Handed Scholarship

Midwest Roofing Contractors Association sponsors left-handed scholarships through the MRCA Foundation. 

They award deserving lefties studying material science, engineering, architecture, metallurgy, etc. $500 to $3,000 in grants. 

Candidates must be citizens of the United States, be enrolled full-time, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, etc.

The Pickard Parry PFAU Southpaw Scholarship awards lefties in high school or college with $1,500 in an effort to support higher education.
