Joseph Tsai was born in Taipei, Taiwan, on January 21, 1964, to Paul C. Tsai and Ruby Tsai.
His father was a prominent lawyer who founded one of the first law firms in Taiwan and served as an adviser to President Chiang Kai-shek.
His mother was a homemaker who raised four children. Joseph Tsai grew up in a wealthy and well-educated family that valued hard work, discipline, and excellence.
